Matilija Poppy, 7x5 oil painting on linen panel

Matilija Poppy

7x5 oil painting on linen panel

Unframed

Recently I visited several of the California missions, and I found some beautiful Matilija poppies growing in the garden at Mission La Purisima, in Lompoc, CA.  I love to watch these large poppies floating in the breeze, and their graceful petals look like angel wings.  This painting is from a photo I took on that trip, and it's available on Daily Paintworks at http://www.dailypaintworks.com/buy/auction/287112.

I finished my painting today that I had started at Krista Eaton's house on Wednesday. We had a great time painting! There were two different set-ups, and I think Krista posted the other one yesterday.

I painted this still life from a photo of a still set-up in a class that I took at Scottsdale Artist's School a few years ago. I try to photograph all the set-ups when I'm there -- they make great studies.

This painting is available through an online auction on Daily Paintworks, but it will need to dry for about two weeks before I can ship it.

I recently did another daisy painting that sold very quickly. I got so many nice compliments on it that I decided to paint more daisies.
